Welcome to Triassic Times – your trusted source for the latest in paleontology, ancient life, and fossil discovery.
Our Name
The interview answer for why we’re called The Triassic Times is because of the significant place dinosaurs hold in prehistoric study. They’re literally awesome. Paleontologists that don’t even study dinosaurs are often inspired to get into paleontology by dinosaurs (and often by a specific dinosaur-themed trilogy). As you undoubtedly know, dinosaurs were born in the Triassic, eventually ruling over the earth for millions and millions of years. So, Triassic Times.
The real answer is because we couldn’t resist the alliteration.
Our Mission
We exist to bring the prehistoric world into the present. Think of us as the newspaper the pre-quarternary never had. We will cover new discoveries, interviews, research papers, and everything from stromatolites to Australopithecus.
Triassic Times is run by a small but passionate team. We work hard to ensure the accuracy and clarity of everything we publish. But if we make a mistake, be kind. Shoot us an email on thetriassictimes@gmail.com.
Our Philosophy
Don’t know about you, but the members of the team behind The Triassic Times has often find ourselves in race to be as big as we can in our lives. Bigger job, bigger house, bigger car, bigger salary, bigger investment porfolio – bigger name. It’s too much. But when we read about the natural history of this planet, there is a sense of calm. The Earth is old. Mind-bogglingly old. It has seen some things. Trilobites, dinosaurs, megalodons have come and gone. This can make you feel a little small sometimes.
There is solace in that.
So, when you read an article or an interview on our site, slow down a bit. Don’t rush. Whatever you are dealing with, in your effort to be the biggest version of yourself, put that aside. Just be with the dinosaurs for a bit. They have not seen your quarterly sales reports or dealt with returns on B2B sales, but they’ve seen some things.
Volunteer With Us
We are a small team, and this is not a revenue stream for any of us. We do this because we love spriggina, and we love eohippus and we love everything in between. If you think you can help, get in touch with us! (you know how to find our email address, right?)
Hint – Right now, we could use some help with Instagram and Website Design.
PS – One word about the spelling
We are aware that “paleontology” is spelled inconsistently across the world as paleontology and palaeontology. While we don’t endorse most of the USA’s atrocities upon the English language (what in tarnation is ‘color‘?), we do retain a preference for writing paleontology. So that’s what we use for this website.
